Offered for sale is an antique Elgin (USA) open-faced U.S. military issue pocket watch, probably ca. 1942 (World War 2 era). This is a 16-size watch, and measures approximately 52mm (2″) diameter. This watch features a signed Elgin nickel hinged-back case, a 17-jewel adjusted stem-wind stem-set movement with a gilded finish, and a single-sunk porcelain dial with luminous hands and numerals. The caseback is marked ORD. DEPT. U.S.A. No. -OB- 13020 (the marking is very faint and does not show up well in the photograph). The case is in excellent condition, showing signs of occasional pocket carry. The dial is in excellent condition, showing no visible cracks or chips. The movement runs and keeps excellent time. Overall, a very presentable watch that is ready to carry with pride or present as a wonderful gift to a person who collects military timepieces.
