Offered for sale is a custom fixed-blade Bowie knife, hand-made in USA by Frank Centofante of Tampa, Florida, probably ca. 1970s. Frank Centofante was a Knifemakers’ Guild member and past president. In addition to making his own knives, he also designed knives for Kershaw and Spyderco. Centofante made many fixed blade knives early in his 40-year career, and concentrated on folding knives later in his career. Mr. Centofante passed away in 2009, and his knives have become highly collectible. This knife features a carbon steel clip-point blade, a brass double hilt and butt cap, and a very nice wood handle that is contoured for a comfortable grip with either hand. The blade is 6-5/8″ long and 3/16″ thick at the hilt. Overall length is 11-1/4″. The blade is tang stamped Centofante Tampa, FLA. The knife is in excellent condition overall, showing signs of occasional carry. The blade shows evidence of minor pitting, though it appears to be unsharpened. The handle scales are in excellent condition, with no visible cracks or chips. The fit and finish is superb. The knife includes a left-handed leather sheath. This knife is very well made, and will provide many years of service with proper care. Or, it would be right at home in a collection of custom knives. You can own this very high quality handmade knife from a very highly regarded maker, for $799.99.
