Offered for sale is a vintage Hamilton “Sherwood” wrist watch (also called the “Seneca”) of the Art Deco period, ca. 1937. Hamilton made three different watch models they called the Sherwood, and this one is the earliest of the three. This watch features a solid 14k yellow gold Deco style rectangular case with a fancy stepped side design, a 19-jewel calibre #982 manual wind movement (one of the highest grade movements Hamilton used in a wrist watch), and a silver matte dial with gold applied hour markers. The case is in excellent condition overall, showing signs of occasional wear. There is some fancy engraving on the caseback that dates the watch to 1937. The movement is in excellent running order. The dial is in very good original condition, and shows a patina appropriate for its age. Overall, a very presentable watch that is ready to wear in style or present as a wonderful gift to a person who appreciates fine timepieces. Size: 20mm wide x 37mm lug-to-lug. Signed case, dial, and movement. Fitted with a leather strap. This is a hard-to-find model, and is sought after by Hamilton watch collectors today. You can own this very high grade, attractive, highly collectible American-made wrist watch, for only $699.99/obo.
