Offered for sale is a vintage Lord Elgin wrist watch, made in USA, ca. 1950s. This watch features a yellow gold filled Deco style asymmetric case, a 23-jewel caliber #730 manual-wind chronometer-grade movement with a free-sprung balance (one of the highest-grade movements ever used in an American-made wrist watch), and a silver matte dial with gold applied hour markers. The case is in excellent condition overall, showing signs of occasional wear and some minor wear of the gold finish at the high spots (not noticeable unless you look very closely). The movement is in excellent running order. The dial has been expertly refinished to look as it did the day it left the Elgin factory. Overall, a very presentable watch that is ready to wear in style or present as a wonderful gift to a person who appreciates fine timepieces. Size: 25mm wide x 36mm lug-to-lug. Fitted with a leather strap. I believe that many of the Lord Elgin watches of the 1950s are currently underappreciated by collectors, because their quality is on a par with the best of the American-made wristwatches. You can own this high grade, attractive American made wrist watch, from a time when watches really had style and the Lord Elgin name truly meant quality, for $299.99.
