Offered for sale is a vintage Zippo Town & Country lighter with a polished chrome finish, made in the USA, ca. 1950. This Town & Country lighter features a hand-painted image of a Sloop (sailboat) with the letters “LF” above and the name “Joe Zandy” on the caseback. At one point in time, you were able to send in your signature for zippo to engrave on the lighter and I believe this to be the case with this lighter. I do not know what the letters “LF” stand for. In the late 1940s, the term Town & Country stood for a “paint on paint” process where paint was applied manually to pre-engraved grooves on the surface of the case. Then enamel was applied and baked in the oven until hardened. It is common for the paint to break off with time, however, the paint on this lighter is 99% intact and the chrome is 90% intact. The lighter is in good condition overall, showing signs of normal use and pocket carry. The insert is newer than the outer casing. Needs only flint and fluid to work. This is a great crossover collectable piece to both lighter collectors and boating enthusiasts. You can own this great vintage Town & Country Zippo lighter, for $299.99.
