Description
You are bidding on an antique Hamilton #990 (USA) open-faced pocket watch, probably ca. 1911. This is a 16-size watch, and measures approximately 50mm (2″) diameter. This watch features a genuine Hamilton solid nickel snap back and bezel salesman’s display case. Cases of this type were used by retailers to demonstrate watch movements to their customers, and by watch manufacturers’ reps to demonstrate movements to retailers. Although these types of cases were designed more for demonstrating watch movements than for everyday carry, many were carried regularly. This watch also features a 21-jewel adjusted railroad-grade stem-wind lever-set movement, and a double-sunk porcelain dial with Arabic numerals and blue steel spade hands. (Note: Although the movement and dial meet the criteria for railroad service, the case does not). The case is in excellent condition, showing signs of normal pocket carry. The dial is in very good condition, showing a few minor hairlines. The movement runs and keeps excellent time. Overall, a presentable watch that is ready to carry with pride or present as a wonderful gift to a person who appreciates fine timepieces. You can own this very high grade, American-made pocket watch, for $499.99/obo. If you have questions about this watch or about my watch and clock repair services, please feel free to contact me. |
