Offered for sale is a vintage Lord Elgin wrist watch, ca. late 1940s or early 1950s. This watch features a 14k yellow gold filled Deco style case, a 21-jewel caliber 559 manual wind movement, and a silver satin dial with gold hour markers and a subsidiary seconds hand at the 6 o’clock position. The case is in very good condition overall, showing signs of occasional wear. The movement is in excellent running order. The dial appears to be in very good original condition, and shows some minor discoloration in a few spots. Overall, a presentable watch that is ready to wear in style or present as a wonderful gift to a person who appreciates fine timepieces. Size: 22mm wide x 37mm lug-to-lug. Signed case, dial, and movement. Fitted with a tan leather strap. I believe the Lord Elgin watches of the mid-20th century were some of the best watches made in America, and are very much underappreciated by collectors today.
