Offered for sale is a pre-owned Landers Frary & Clark Universal Fixed Blade Bowie Knife, made in New Britain, Connecticut probably ca. 1900-1910. This knife features a Carbon steel clip point blade, nickel silver double hilt, a “rough black” composite handle with a stag texture, and full tang construction. The overall length is approximately 11-1/2″ with a blade length of 7″. The blade is 3/16″ thick at the hilt. The blade is tang stamped UNIVERSAL L.F.&C. The knife is in excellent condition overall, especially for it’s age and shows signs of very light use and carry. The blade appears to be at least 99% intact. The handle has a small crack on the top near one of the rivets (see photograph) but is otherwise excellent. This knife includes its original leather ambidextrous sheath. If you are in the market for a high quality vintage American bowie knife, it would be hard to find a cleaner one than this. The 7″ blade makes this knife far less common than most of the LF&C Bowies, and the original sheath definitely adds value since most of the original sheaths no longer exist. This knife is very well made, and will provide many more years of service with proper care. Or, it would be right at home in a collection of American fixed blade knives. You can own this very high quality vintage bowie knife with sheath for $399.99.
