Description
Offered for sale is a vintage Lord Elgin wrist watch, made in USA circa 1940s or 1950s. This watch features a 14k yellow gold filled Deco style round case with black accents on the bezel, a 21-jewel calibre 680 manual wind movement, and a cream matte waffle-textured dial with a subsidiary seconds hand at the 6 o’clock position. The case is in excellent condition overall, showing signs of occasional wear. There is some light personal engraving on the caseback. The movement is in excellent running order. The dial is in good original condition, showing a “tropical” patina appropriate for its age. Overall, a presentable watch that is ready to wear in style or present as a wonderful gift to a person who appreciates fine timepieces. Size: 30mm wide x 38mm lug-to-lug. Signed case, dial, and movement. I believe the Lord Elgin watches of the mid-20th century were some of the best watches made in America, and are very much underappreciated by collectors today. You can own this high grade, attractive, highly collectible American-made wrist watch, for only $299.99/obo.
