Description
Offered for sale is a full-size Zippo lighter in a brushed chrome finish, circa 1968. The lighter features a detailed four color graphic depicting the US Coast Guards Bark Eagle (Barque Eagle) Ship. The Barque Eagle is a 295-foot 3-masted square-rigged sailing vessel (barque) used as a training ship for future officers of the US Coast Guard. It appears that the person who approved the final design of this lighter did not notice that “barque” was misspelled. In later years, Zippo lighters depicting the Barque Eagle had the correct spelling (I have seen a 1980 example with the correct spelling). The lighter is in excellent used condition. The paint is 97% intact and the chrome is 100% intact, showing signs of normal handling. Needs only flint and fluid to work. You can own this great vintage Zippo with the rare misspelling on the graphics, for $279.99.
