Description
Offered for sale is a vintage Bulova Accuquartz wrist watch, circa 1973. This watch features a 14k solid yellow gold screwback case, a Swiss quartz movement, a two-toned gold textured dial with applied non-numeric hour markers, and a day/date display at the 3 o’clock position and a diamond at the 9 o’clock position. I believe this watch originally came with a calibre #224 tuning fork/quartz hybrid movement, and has been retrofitted at the Bulova factory with an ESA Swiss quartz movement. Bulova retrofitted many of the Accuquartz 224 watches with ESA or ETA Swiss quartz movements because the calibre #224 movement proved to be troublesome and the supply of parts for it dried up very quickly. The case is in very good condition overall, showing signs of normal wear. The movement is in excellent running order. The dial is in good original condition, showing a patina appropriate for its age. Overall, a very presentable watch that is ready to wear in style. Size: 35mm diameter (without crown). Fitted with a brown leather two-piece strap. The case without the movement, case ring or crystal weighs 0.78 troy ounce. As of this writing (December 22, 2023) the watch contains well over $900.00 worth of gold alone. You can own this high grade, attractive, ready-to-wear vintage watch, for only $1,299.99.
