Description
Offered for sale is a vintage Chatham Instrument Co. (by Zenith) military style wrist watch, Swiss-made, probably ca. 1940s. I could find very little information about the Chatham Instrument Company, but I believe they were a British defense contractor in the World War Two era who made many nautical clocks for British Navy ships as well as commercial vessels. This watch features a stainless steel screw back case, an inner anti-magnetic shield over the movement, a Zenith calibre #12-4 17-jewel manual wind movement, and a black dial with luminous hour markers and hands (Note: the luminosity has faded over time). The case is in very good condition overall, showing signs of normal wear. The movement is in excellent running order. I serviced the movement, replaced the mainspring, and fitted a new crystal in December 2022. The dial is in fair original condition, showing a patina appropriate for its age. Signed Case, dial, and movement Overall, a presentable watch that is ready to wear in style or present as a wonderful gift to a person who appreciates fine timepieces. This watch measures 33mm wide (without crown) by 39.5mm lug-to-lug. Fitted with a new black leather strap. You can own this attractive, Swiss made vintage military style wrist watch, for $349.99/obo.
