Description
Offered for sale is a vintage Hamilton “Brock” wrist watch of the Art Deco period, circa 1939. This watch features a solid 14k coral (rose) gold Deco style case, a 19-jewel calibre #982 Medallion manual wind movement, and a pink satin dial with black enamel Roman numerals and a subsidiary seconds hand at the 6 o’clock position. The case is in very good condition overall, showing signs of occasional wear. There is some light personal engraving on the back indicating that the watch was presented as a gift in 1940. The movement is in excellent running order. I serviced the movement in October 2023. The dial is in good original condition, showing a patina appropriate for its age. Overall, a presentable watch that is ready to wear in style or present as a wonderful gift to a person who appreciates fine timepieces. Size: 21mm wide x 37mm lug-to-lug. Signed case, dial, and movement. Fitted with a leather strap. If you like Art Deco period timepieces, you will certainly enjoy this one that truly exemplifies the Art Deco style. This is a hard-to-find model that is highly sought after by Hamilton watch collectors. Although the yellow gold version of the Hamilton Brock is rather common, the coral gold version is much rarer. In the Complete Price Guide to Watches by Cooksey Shugart et al (Tinderbox Press 2017), this watch is given a three-star rarity designation, meaning that there are less than 350 known to exist. You can own this very high grade, attractive, highly collectible American-made wrist watch, for only $1199.99/obo.
