Offered for sale is a vintage Lord Elgin wrist watch, circa 1940s. This watch features a two-tone 14k yellow gold filled Deco style rectangular case with rose gold accents on the sides, a 21-jewel caliber 559 manual wind movement, and a salmon colored dial with gold applied hour markers and a subsidiary seconds hand at the 6 o’clock position. The case is in very good condition overall, showing signs of occasional wear. There is a small personal engraving on the caseback that dates the watch to 1941. The movement is in good running order. The dial appears to be in very good original condition, showing some minor discoloration in a few spots. Overall, a presentable watch that is ready to wear in style or present as a wonderful gift to a person who appreciates fine timepieces. Size: 22.5mm wide x 37mm lug-to-lug. Signed case, dial, and movement. Fitted with a tan leather strap. I believe the Lord Elgin watches of the mid-20th century were some of the best watches made in America, and are underappreciated by collectors today.
