Description
Offered for sale is a vintage full-size Zippo lighter in a polished chrome finish, ca. 1977 ( /// zippo // ). This lighter features a five-color graphic of the USS King Guided Missile Destroyer (DDG 41) logo. The logo contains the inscription “Manu Tenere Mare Supremus” which, loosely translated from Latin, means “to hold the highest hand in the sea.” The back of the lighter features a two-color graphic stating that this lighter belonged to a “plank owner” (a sailor who served aboard the ship on its first mission). The USS King was commissioned in 1960 and decommissioned in 1991. The lighter is in excellent, unfired, condition, showing signs of occasional handling and very light pocket carry. The paint and chrome are 100% intact. Needs only flint and fluid to work. This is a great crossover collectable piece to both lighter collectors and military enthusiasts. You can own this great vintage Zippo lighter for $149.99. |
