Description
Offered for sale is an IRBI custom fixed-blade hunting knife, hand-made in Seward, Alaska, USA by Irvin Campbell. IRBI stands for “I’d rather be independent.” IRBI has been in business since 1971 and Irvin Campbell stopped making knives in 1990. The company has been run since then by his family members Virgil, Dawn and Hunter. This knife features a carbon steel drop-point blade with a visible temper line, a brass hilt and butt cap, and wood handle scales. The blade is differentially heat treated, in that the edge is hardened to improve edge retention, while the rest of the blade has a more resilient temper to resist fracturing if bent. The blade is 3-1/8″ long and 1/8″ thick at the hilt. Overall length is 7-1/2″. The blade is tang stamped “IRBI Irvin Campbell, Seaward, Alaska.” The knife is in excellent, near-mint condition, showing signs of occasional handling. The blade appears to be at least 99% intact. The handle is in excellent condition, with no visible cracks or chips. The fit and finish is superb. The knife includes a high quality custom aftermarket leather sheath. This knife is very well made, and will provide many years of service with proper care. Or, it would be right at home in a collection of custom knives. You can own this very high quality handmade knife from a very highly regarded maker, for $499.99.
