Description
Offered for sale is a custom Steve Brooks fixed-blade hunting/skinning knife, hand-made in USA, circa 1993. Steve Brooks made his first handcrafted knife in 1981 or 1982, and has become a highly accomplished knifemaker whose work has been featured in many of the major knife magazines. Today, Steve Brooks’ primary business is making custom bullet molds, and as of this writing he has phased out the knifemaking business. I contacted Steve Brooks in February 2021, and was told that as of February 17, 2021, he had three knives left in stock at $1500.00 apiece, and has no plans to make any more. This knife features a flat-ground carbon steel drop point blade, a stainless steel hilt, hidden tang construction, and a very finely sculptured rosewood handle with a lanyard hole. The blade is 3-1/4″ long and almost 1/4″ thick at the hilt. Overall length is 8″. The blade is tang stamped “SB” (the lazy S over the B is the logo for Steve Brooks Knives), and the hilt is stamped with the number 9312. I believe this number means that this was the 12th knife of this pattern made in 1993. The knife is in excellent, like-new condition overall, showing signs of occasional handling. The blade appears to be unsharpened. The handle is in excellent condition. The fit and finish is superb. The knife includes a custom Steve Brooks-made right handed leather sheath. This knife is very well made, and will provide many years of service with proper care. Or, it would be right at home in a collection of custom knives. Steve Brooks knives are very expensive even today, and will likely become more so now that he has stopped making them. You can own this very high quality custom knife for $599.99. |
